Annual Spring Concert

The Chesapeake Bay Community Band will present its annual Spring Concert Sunday, May 18th. The performance will begin at 2:30 pm on the stage of the Avalon Theatre. This year's Spring Concert is titled Tales of the Sea, and the performance will include Hands Across the Sea by John Philip Sousa, Herbert L. Clarkes Bride of the Waves, and The Middy March by Kenneth Alford among others. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for Senior Citizens and Children and may be purchased online by clicking here or by calling 410-703-0755.

"The Anonymous People" movie showing

There will be a showing of the film, The Anonymous People, at the Denton Public Library on the 2nd Floor on Friday, May, 9th. The film will begin at 7:00 pm and doors will open at 6:30 pm. Light refreshments will be served. Tickets are free, but a free admission ticket is required. Adkins Arboretum Soup n' Walk

Adkins Arboretum has set the winter/spring schedule for their Soup n' Walk program. These programs offer a guided walk through the Arboretum's woodlands, wetlands and meadows. Afterward, there will be lunch and a brief lesson on it's nutritional value. During the session on Saturday, May 3rd from 11:00 am- 1:30 pm, a 90 minute walk will focus on the wide variety of flowering plants at Tuckahoe Creek. The menu will feature scallop and vegetable soup, roasted red beets and carrots, apple date walnut bread with apple jelly, and fruity nutty oatmeal bars. Admission is $20 per person for members and $25 per person for non-members. Advance registration is required. To register click here or call 410-634-2847.

"The Harsh Reality of Underage Drinking" seminar

The Harsh Reality of Underage Drinking, as seen on the Katie Couric Show, will be coming to the Calhoon MEBA Engineering School at 27050 St. Michaels Rd. in Easton on Friday, April 25th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a special appearance by Mrs. Jan Withers. This seminar is free to the public and all local parents & teens are encouraged to attend. Light refreshments will be served. Centreville Easter Egg Hunt

Centreville's traditional Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored for the kids by Centreville Lions Club for the past half-century, will be held Saturday, April 19th beginning at 11 am at Millstream Park. Club Members will mark off lanes for the children in different age groups, with the winners finding the most eggs receiving special prizes. Kids 12 and under are welcome.

Shore Regional Health "Ask The Expert" Series free program

University of Maryland Shore Regional Health is presenting the latest Ask the Expert Series, which will run through May 21 in locations throughout the region. These free programs offer residents an opportunity to meet and ask questions of physicians and other expert clinicians who provide services in our region.

Each presentation lasts about an hour, including an informative talk by an expert in a particular health care subject and a question-and-answer period. The “Ask the Expert” series is an ongoing program offered during the year in Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s and Talbot counties.

The wide range of topics covered by “Ask the Expert” includes the latest information about breast cancer surgery and recovery, prostate cancer, diabetes management, chronic pain management, the benefits of minimally invasive surgery and many more.

Khalid Kurtom, MD, FAANS, Chesapeake Neurological Surgery will present: “Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery,”  Thursday, April 17, 7 p.m., at UM Shore Medical Center at Chestertown in the Conference Center.

4th Annual Healthy Aging Symposium

Bluegrass Concert

The Eastern Shore Bluegrass Association will be presenting Bluegrass Concerts throughout 2014 at the Marydel Fire Hall at 101 Firehouse Lane in Marydel, DE.
